About the Black Business Administration
Building economic infrastructure for Black-owned businesses nationwide.
Why BBA Exists
The Black Business Administration (BBA) was founded to address one of the most glaring gaps in the American economic system — the persistent and systemic barriers that Black entrepreneurs face in starting, sustaining, and scaling their businesses
Despite representing over 2 million U.S. businesses, Black entrepreneurs remain undercapitalized, underserved, and overlooked. In response, BBA was created as a bold, proactive, and measurable response to these challenges — not just as a support organization, but as a movement with teeth, influence, and vision.

BBA was envisioned by founders who recognized that while many nonprofit organizations are doing important work, the for-profit sector needed a counterpart focused not just on charity — but on power, sustainability, and wealth creation. Our founders were inspired by the model of agencies like the Small Business Administration (SBA), yet designed BBA to be tailored to the unique socio-economic and cultural context of Black business ownership.
We are not membership-based, and we are not a nonprofit. We are a for-profit agency designed to eventually operate as an independent governmental institution with direct funding streams, public accountability, and legislative reach.
